What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development program run by Rotary Clubs. RYLA  focuses on high school juniors that are rising seniors in September. Students come from the 15 southeastern counties (Hoke, Scotland, Robeson, Columbus, Brunswick, Cumberland,  New Hanover, Pender, Bladen, Sampson, Duplin, Onslow, Lenoir, Jones, Carteret).

The RYLA Conference includes a variety of topics. It is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and district leadership where you will develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections with other students your age.

What are the benefits?

Connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:

  • Build communication and problem-solving skills
  • Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
  • Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
  • Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships

What’s involved?

RYLA is a 3-day, 2-night retreat that includes icebreakers, interactive group activities, teambuilding, and leadership sessions covering a variety of current topics.
  • Your counselors are educators that are trained to hone in on a students leadership potential, help students develop creative problem-solving strategies, and learn ethical business practices through…
    • Communication skills
    • Problem solving and conflict management and resolution
    • Community and global citizenship
    • and so much more!

For juniors in High School only, our RYLA 2025 Conference will be held in January 24-26, 2025. We know many students and Rotary Clubs have been looking forward to this conference, with many students anticipating this since freshman year and maybe even before that.

We have an awesome program planned with exciting activities and events.

Our RYLA paperwork, applications, and deadlines to keep you on track, and our mandatory meetings will set parents/guardians at ease.  Most importantly our conferees will be energized and excited to attend.
